Whenever anybody mentions Prague it conjurs up images of narrow cobbled streets, stunning medieval architecture, the meandering river Vltava and cheap pints of strong Beer.

Prague is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities not only in Europe, but in the entire world. Its modern day reputation is built on over eleven centuries of cultural development stretching back to the city's founding in 885.

The city's heyday was during the fourteenth century when many of its most famous buildings and structures such as the Charles Bridge, Saint Vitus Cathedral and Charles University were constructed. Today, a considerable area of Old Town Praha is protected by UNESCO.

Having shaken off the shackles of Soviet control, which lasted from the post-war years up until the beginning of the 1990's, Czechoslovakia was split up into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Prague has been the dynamic capital of the Czech Republic since 1993 and must now be considered as truly being a global city. Its population is well over one million and, if you include its outlying urban areas, its total population is actually close to 2.5 million.

For more information about the major places of interest in Praha take a few minutes to read our Prague Attractions page. The Prague Guide pages also include all the information you need to know about the Czech Language and Money, the Weather you can expect here during your stay, as well as lots of tips on which Bars and Clubs are hot, and which are most definitely not.

We have put together a Prague Guide to help our guests (and anybody who is simply interested in learning more about Prague online) to get the very most out of their time in the wonderful Czech Republic.

There is no denying that Prague is one of the world's most beautiful cities. Unlike some European capitals, such as Belgrade and Vilnius, the city has certainly been discovered by tourists from all over Europe in recent years, but this does not mean that Prague has that tired 'going through the motions' tourism feel that a number of established western European capitals unfortunately have. Remember, the Czech Republic only regained its independence in the 1990s, so the process of rediscovery and redevelopment still optimistically continues in ernest today.

In our Prague Guide we provide you with much of the essential basics you need to start preparing for your Czech adventure. What is the Language in Prague? What kind of Money do they use in the Czech Republic? What kind of  Weather can I expect if I am planning to travel to Prague in January or August? Where is Prague ?All these questions, and many more, are answered in the relevent sections of our Praha Guide.

Our Overview page will give you a good sense of what you should expect when you visit Prague, and also provides you with some brief historical perspective on how the city developed from its more humble beginnings until the modern day.

If Prague's famous attractions (of which there are certainly many) are your main reason for visiting then find out more about Praha Castle, the Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square and the other top Prague Sightseeing highlights in our Attractions section. Finding these remarkable places, as well as your hotel and the best Prague Map.

Finally, for every visitor to Prague who is interested in its historical buildings and rich history, there is another who travels to the Czech capital to enjoy some of the best nights out on the continent. The current popularity of Prague has lead to a huge difference in quality between the city's best and worst bars. In our Bars & Clubs section we provide you with the latest info on where is hot and where you should certainly avoid.
