Riga boasts the largest collection of Art Nouveau buildings in the world. Art nouveau buildings dating to the end of the nineteenth century onwards can be found in Riga Old Town, the Embassy district and throughout other parts of central Riga. Many art nouveau buildings were designed by Latvian architects, the most famous of whom was Mikhail Eisenstein.

The concentration and quality of art nouveau architecture is most impressive along Elizabetes and Alberta streets, which take on an almost unreal appearance. The Latvian Museum of Architecture is a good further source of information as are the dedicated art nouveau shops around Strelnieku and Alberta streets.

Our popular Riga Out There art nouveau tours last 3 hours.
