Riga’s Old Town (vecriga) is a magnificent UNESCO-protected ensemble of art nouveau buildings, medieval churches, picturesque squares, centuries-old town houses and cobbled streets.

The city was founded in Riga Old Town in 1201, making this 800-year-old beating heart of the Latvian capital one of the oldest cities in all of Europe. Riga Old Town is approximately one square kilometre in size.
