All of the facilitators we work with are experts in group dynamics, group processes, team building, decision making and consensus building. During the retreat the facilitator manages the group discussion and ensures that  fear, lack of trust, or complacency does not creep in to the room, hence promoting an atmosphere where everyone is wanting to actively participate.  
We like to think that our meeting facilitators act like referees on a sports field or conductors in a orchestra. They explain the rules, keep the structure / format goal orientated, schedule accordingly and help ensure that everyone has a chance to shine. Our sole interest is in helping you have a successful retreat.
Why choose a Travel Out There Facilitator in the first place?
It is difficult for a retreat participant to serve as the facilitator.  Participants, if correctly selected to attend the retreat, do have a stake in the outcome of the discussions.  For this reason, expecting the CEO or a manager of the company, to facilitate the retreat is often a poor choice. This interest makes it very challenging for them to also serve as a neutral group facilitator. 
What happens after your retreat or away day?
In addition to helping you plan the retreat before hand, and managing the group discussion during the retreat, the Travel Out There team will capture the key points on a flip chart during the retreat and process these results in to a written report summarising the discussions, any decisions that were made, and action steps to be taken.

Fraser Doherty MBE

Mareks Dombrovskis is a trainer, specialised in the leading of team training events in the great outdoors with varying degrees of difficulty. A specialist in survival! He is our key facilitator for all our digital detox and survival experiences we organise for our clients.

Mareks is a certified coach with an internationally recognised diploma. Trained in the “Business Class Programme” organised by the “Komercizglītības centrs”. He was a officer at the Latvian Armed Forces' Non-commissioned Officers' School. He took part in the peace keeping mission in Kosovo.


Mareks gained valuable experience in winter survival courses in Sweden, where participants' had to live for several days in harsh winterly conditions. Mareks has a bachelor's degree in human management from University of Defence in the Czech Republic.

Ieva Saliņa is a teacher of Aktavio Lioss™ life lessons meditation since 2011.   Ieva helps create opportunities to make positive changes within oneself and improve the quality of life. Clear mind, positive thinking and harmonious Soul are the main pillars for creating a successful life.


Ieva offers meditation sessions as well as relaxation sessions workshops for clients on a group and individual basis. All workshops are designed to share knowledge and insights of human being and life in different fields – career, health, relationships, practical tips for daily life and relaxation with music. It is an opportunity for each participant to receive answers, be creative, to have time for their own well-being and realize their talents and strengths.


Ieva regularly travels around Europe to share these knowledge and powerful technqiue to all who are looking for solutions to achieve goals while developing within. Ieva published her first poetry book in 2012, later translated in to English in 2014. She believes that each person is a creator and there is a lot of strength in each of us, it is important to find time and know how to efficiently calm mind, learn to think what we need in our life, take care of our inner world, restore energy and inner balance.

Martijn Timmermans

Event Design Expert


Martijn Timmermans co-founder of The Red Line Project and Event StoryBoard. Martijn started in experience marketing 25 years ago at Disneyland Paris, Marriott and Singapore Airlines. From there he moved into performance art as a poet and storyteller with highlights performing during TEDX Binnenhof / Knights Hall in presence of the Dutch King & Queen. As a producer he toured throughout Europe for San Francisco based brand experience agency KenwoodX. 


In 2012 he started The Red Line Project, designing storytelling events. Noticing the benefits of collective intelligence through co-creation when designing events he decided to share their approach with the event industry. A deep analyses of the process resulted in the Event StoryBoard Canvas. A strategic event design tool that synchronises event design with event owners´ and audiences’ needs, boosting both innovation, creativity and meaningfulness. 


For his views and experience on event design, audience engagement and experiential storytelling practices he is invited to speak frequently at platforms such as IBTM World, Fresh Conference, EuBEA World festival, Eventex, Conventa Crossover, The Meeting Show and Invoyage. For his work as a developer and trainer in behavioural change programmes he was awarded the 2014  ´Bert Arts´ prize by a Dutch mental health care organisation. In that same year he won the Fresh Conference Award for most valuable session.
